WVa JROTC band to march in inauguration parade
January 08, 2009 8:41 AM

Nicholas County's junior ROTC band is getting ready to march in the presidential inauguration parade in the nation's capital on Jan. 20.

Lt. Col. Debbie Tompkins says the JROTC Wilderness Battalion accepted an invitation to participate in the parade last month.

The band's 46 members are students at Nicholas County and Richwood high schools.

Tompkins says band members also plan to present cards to wounded soldiers at the Malone House, a transitional facility at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The cards were created by art students at Nicholas County's elementary, middle and high schools.
