MORGANTOWN, W.Va.
The chairman of the NAACP will be at West Virginia University on Jan. 15 to discuss the election of the nation's first black president.
Julian Bond's speech is called "The Road to Freedom: From Alabama to Obama."
It's part of WVU's celebration of the life of Martin Luther King Jr.
The event will be held 7 p.m. at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Morgantown.
Barack Obama will be sworn in as president five days later in Washington, D.C.
Bond, a civil rights activist since 1960 and a longtime legislator, has chaired the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People since 1998.
