HUNTINGTON, W.Va.
A 43-year-old Kenova woman has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for embezzling more than $704,000.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Charleston says Marcia L. Masters also was ordered to pay $704,606 in restitution Monday.
Masters pleaded guilty last August to embezzling the money from the Guyan Conservation District between May 2004 and September 2007. She was the agency's administrative officer at the time.
The district is under the control of the West Virginia Conservation Agency and receives federal funding for various conservation projects in a region that encompasses Boone, Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mingo and Wayne counties.
