Benjamin Brafman says in an e-mail to The Associated Press that he's been told his client will be charged after accidentally shooting himself in the right thigh over the weekend at a Manhattan night club. Brafman says he doesn't expect that Burress will make a statement -- and he asks that his team, its fans and the media withhold judgment until all the facts have come out. So far, the facts that have come out say Burress shot himself in the leg while at a club Friday night. He was released from a hospital early Saturday and doctors say he will be OK. He was already due to sit out yesterday's game against Washington with a leg injury. Police and the NFL continue to investigate the situation.

PORTLAND, Ore.

Barack Obama: "Name" Recognition
NEW YORK
When Barack Obama said during his campaign that he didn't look like all the other presidents before him, he was touching on just one aspect of his candidacy that has helped change views in this country. Besides being an inspiration on the issue of race, Obama's election has been a big boost to people with "foreign-sounding" names. Just ask Zenas Ackah. Though born in this country, he has been dogged by questions about his heritage because he has a Greek first name and a last name from the African nation of Ghana. He is among those hoping that people will start thinking that the only names that sound "American" are those like Tom and Harry and Sally and Jane and Smith and Jones. One English professor says the more people hear the name Obama, it will become more mainstream -- and so will the idea that only certain Anglo-Saxon names are considered American.
