OHIO NEWS
from Eyewitness News Online Ohio prosecutor requests execution in murder spree December 01, 2008 1:50 PM COLUMBUS, Ohio An Ohio prosecutor has requested an execution date for a man charged with murdering a hitchhiker in 1991 during an alleged multistate killing spree. John Fautenberry was sentenced to death in 1992 for the shooting death of Joseph Daron at a highway restaurant in Hamilton County. Fautenberry was also a suspect in the shooting death of an Alaska miner, a truck driver and a bank teller in Oregon and a truck driver in New Jersey. Prosecutor Joe Deters made the request in a filing with the Ohio Supreme Court. Deters says Fautenberry has exhausted his state and federal appeals. The request is one of five pending before the Ohio Supreme Court and nine submitted since April. Of those, the court denied two requests and set execution dates for two other inmates, both of whom were executed. |
