Finding the perfect Christmas tree can be a bit tricky.
Questions like "Is it durable?," "Is it dependable?" and "Is it affordable?" often run through the minds of tree buyers.
But thanks to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tri-State Organization, trees for sale might be worth more than the price tag suggests.
"You're going to get a tree anyway, you might as well come and give back to the community that you're from," volunteer Paul Kelly said.
Giving back to the community while getting ready for the holidays.
"It kind of gets you in the Christmas spirit out here," Kelly said. "Good thing for the community and good thing to help out for."
Executive Director Patti Price says over 600 people are helping with the sale. And according to her, those volunteers are one reason this tree sale has lasted for 28 years.
"This is a true labor of love in the Tri-State area and we're very thrilled to have that participation from the community," Price said.
Bob Angel says he knows his role with it comes to tree shopping. His wife buys...while he carries it inside the house.
But with the money going to a noble cause, he says he doesn't mind.
"It's just a nice thing to do to support Big Brothers," Angel said. "I'd rather give them the money than anyone else."
"That's very important, particularly now with the economy," Price said. "And plus it's great satisfaction knowing that we're putting a quality tree into the homes of our customers."
Big Brothers Big Sisters are selling Christmas trees at three locations in the Tri-State.
The BB&T lot on 6th Ave. and First St. in Huntington, the Eastern Heights Shopping Center on Route 60 and the Ashland Tennis Center.
