Thanksgiving dinner at the Huntington City Mission is very similar to others. Plenty of food and friends. But none of it would be possible without the help of the community.
"Volunteers literally come out of the wood-work to help us with events like this," Volunteer Coordinator, Lynn Clagg, said.
Clagg says 30 volunteers showed up to help out in this year's dinner.
Marshall student Stephanie Perry is one of those volunteers.
"I think everybody deserves a good, healthy meal," Perry said. "They deserve to be thankful for what they have, and seeing them, that I'm thankful for what I have as well."
"It's heart, it's God," Jamie Vance said. "It's God moving through the volunteers."
Vance stays at the Mission and says he appreciates the volunteers because they're like family. A sentiment that Perry echoes.
"Everybody needs to feel like they're loved and part of a family," Perry said. "I feel like this was my family on Thanksgiving."
Coming together to show love and appreciation for one another...something everyone can be thankful for.
