Despite lower fuel prices, West Virginia Turnpike officials aren't anticipating traffic jams on the 88 mile toll road.
In fact, officials expect traffic for this year's Thanksgiving Day holiday will continue a trend noted last year, when 3 percent fewer vehicles traveled the Charleston to Princeton highway. The prediction is based on a decline in traffic already noted for the year. Several drivers who talked to Eyewitness News said lower fuel prices were helping make their trip possible.
AAA says this could be the first year in six years that holiday travel declines. The Auto Club predicts 1.5 percent fewer travelers nationally. AAA says economic uncertainty still continues to make a noticeable decline in driving.
