Alan Jackson: Florida Development Slowed; Singer Did Billboard For Project
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla.
Hard financial times are hitting just about all of us. And that has even been so for a project that had Alan Jackson attached to it. The singer attended the 2006 groundbreaking of a condominium and town-home development in Panama City Beach, Florida. And Jackson has also appeared in a billboard for the development, scheduled to go up in the state's Panhandle region. But the project is making news because it has fallen on hard financial times. Developers say the 14.5-acre project is now on hold -- and won't be started up again until the economy gets better.

Taylor Swift: The Accidential Celebrity
NASHVILLE, Tenn.
Taylor Swift says her rise to fame through the Internet came about due to "an accident." She tells CMT she gets a kick out of people who wonder how her people engineered her career to grow from her MySpace postings. She says it all began when she was a teen using the social networking site to reach out to friends. These days, however, the Internet is a double-edged sword for her. She says "some people are really mean" -- saying they hate her or that "she's ugly." She has a simple way to cope with those kinds of postings. she says she just tries to ignore those. She says the Internet can be like a big high school, but meaner. She notes that at least in high school, a person "might have to own up" to what they say in a hallway, but there's no way to confront those who post negative things online.

Blake Shelton: Ringing His Chimes
NEW YORK
He may be a big-time country star. But Blake Shelton turns to other genres of music when it comes to choosing the ringtones for his phone. He tells Entertainment Weekly that his current ringtone is "Back in Black" by AC/DC. And before that, he swung from heavy metal to pop when he chose "Rich Girl" by Hall & Oates. His girlfriend Miranda Lambert opts for Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" -- and Shelton says whenever he's around when she gets a call, he "can't help but dance."

Where Do They Play? It's Serious Business
ST. LOUIS
It's a battle between two big cities in Missouri -- with acts like Garth Brooks smack dab in the middle. A growing number of acts passing through the Show-Me State are opting to perform in Kansas City at the brand-new Sprint Center, rather than in St. Louis, home to the Scottrade Center. Why are acts opting to go to KC, rather than St. Louis these days? Two main reasons are cited by music industry insiders. One, Kansas City has no competition for dates with sports teams that play indoors, unlike St. Louis. And they say, the KC venue has large loading docks and the ability to hang more equipment overhead.
