The Bachelor Wednesdays at 9:00 PM on WCHS-TV8
"The Bachelor," an original one-hour primetime romance reality television series which gives one lucky man and 25 lucky women the unique opportunity to find true love, begins its third installment on WCHS-TV8 and premieres on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at 9:00 p.m. Chris Harrison, of HGTV's popular primetime series "Designers' Challenge", once again hosts.Andrew Firestone, the great-grandson of tire entrepreneur Harvey Firestone, has been picked to be the new Bachelor. Firestone's addition to "The Bachelor" franchise takes the show to a whole new level. The son of pioneering vintner Brooks Firestone, founder of Firestone Vineyard, one of California's successful winery and brewery enterprises, and of former British Royal Ballet soloist Catherine Boulton, Andrew Firestone was born in Santa Barbara County's Santa Ynez Valley. Following prep school, Firestone, who is 27, attended the University of San Diego, and currently resides in San Francisco, where he serves as Sales Manager of the Firestone Family Estates. Producers had originally contacted Andrew's brother, Adam, believing him to be single, when in fact he is married with four children. Adam mentioned that his brother, Andrew, is a bachelor, and the producers decided he would be the perfect next Bachelor. Previously millions of viewers followed The Bachelor's romantic journeys that led them into the arms of a potential soul mate. And as before, the Bachelor will get to know these women via a series of social gatherings and exotic, romantic dates -- in groups of five with some, and individually with others. He will introduce some of the women to his closest friends and family, and will visit their hometowns and meet their parents in an effort to determine the woman with whom he is most compatible. The Bachelor will also have an added element of scientific, 'compatibility information' to guide him in his decision making process. There will also be a more gradual process of elimination, as he goes from the twenty-five that he meets initially, then narrows it to 15 by presenting them with a single, red rose. He will then decide further on ten, then six, four, three, two and, ultimately, on the one woman who captures his heart. However, at any point along the way, should a woman decide that she is no longer interested in him, she may reject his invitation to continue dating. "The Bachelor" provides an in-depth, behind-the-scenes glimpse into the lives of each participant involved in this unique dating process. At the end of the journey, Andrew will have had an unforgettable experience, made new friendships and quite possibly found true love. But the big question is: After all of this, if he pops the question, will she accept? Chris Harrison guides this romantic journey, serving as friend and confidant, as the Bachelor and the women learn more about each other. Having found true love with a college sweetheart who is now his wife, Harrison is in a unique position to offer sound advice during this process. "The Bachelor" is produced by Next Entertainment in association with Telepictures Productions. Mike Fleiss ("Are You Hot? The Search for America's Sexiest People") is executive producer. Lisa Levenson is co-executive producer. Need to write?
