"George Lopez" is a new family comedy starring popular standup comedian George Lopez. Lopez makes his television series debut as an assembly line worker who's been promoted to manage a Los Angeles airplane parts factory, and whose job and busy family life are complicated by the presence of his stubborn, insensitive mother (Belita Moreno, "Perfect Strangers"), Benny. "George Lopez" premieres Wednesday, March 27 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET), on WCHS-TV8.

The series also stars Constance Marie ("American Family," "Union Square") as Angie, George's loving wife who has limited patience in dealing with her overbearing mother-in-law; Masiela Lusha as Carmen, their bright daughter who is just entering her teenage years; Luis Armand Garcia as Max, their adorable but precocious nine-year-old son; and Valente Rodriguez ("Erin Brockovich") as Ernie, George's best friend and an employee at the factory.

In the premiere episode - "Prototype" -- George's management skills are put to severe test when his boss, Jack, asks him to choose between firing his overbearing mother or his best friend. Meanwhile, George's daughter, Carmen, discovers the hard way that going through puberty is a royal pain, literally.

Guest starring are Dagney Kerr as George's secretary, Claudia, and Jack Blessing as George's boss, Jack Powers.

"Prototype" was written by Bruce Helford, George Lopez and Robert Borden, and directed by Barnet Kellman.

"George Lopez" is executive-produced by Bruce Helford, Robert Borden, Academy Award(-winner Deborah Oppenheimer (all from "The Drew Carey Show") and actress/producer Sandra Bullock. "George Lopez" is produced by Mohawk Productions, Inc. and Fortis Films, in association with Warner Bros. Television.

"George Lopez" is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound, and simulcast in Spanish via Secondary Audio Programming (SAP).

This program carries a TV-PG,L parental guideline.
